![]() None of the music from the film has appeared on CD. It was redubbed with the 1968 movie soundtrack A TIME TO SING, performed by Hank Williams Jr. Most of those songs were removed in 1972 when the film made its television debut. Most of the soundtrack was comprised of country songs sung by Tompall and the Glaser Brothers, which took up the entire MGM LP. Jerry Styner provided what little background score there was. Ralph Nelson (LILIES OF THE FIELD) directed this racially charged film. Casey plays "George Harley," whom Price arrests for raping a teenaged girl, and in doing so risks alienating the black community that unanimously elected him. Kennedy plays Sheriff "John Little" of Colusa County, Mississippi, who has just been defeated by the newly elected first black sheriff, "Jim Price" (Jim Brown), with the help of northern organizers. George Kennedy and Bernie Casey appeared together again in 1970's. James Whitmore, Joe Don Baker, Bernie Casey, George Kennedy, Reni Santoni, Scott Thomas, and Monte Markham The cast of GUNS OF THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN (l. Elmer Bernstein's score was released by Film Score Monthly in its 2007 box set "The Unforgiven: Classic Western Scores From United Artists." Paul Wendkos directed this installment of the series. Casey received an "introducing" credit on the film's poster. In his film debut, Bernie Casey played "Cassie," one of the expert marksmen that Chris recruits to aid some Mexican revolutionaries. In 1969's GUNS OF THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, George Kennedy took over the role of "Chris Adams" that had been played by Yul Brynner in the original film and its first sequel. I know him best as the leader of the gargoyles in that great TV movie Gargoyles. I just discovered that actor Bernie Casey, who appeared in a number of blaxploitation films early in his career, and otherwise acted for nearly 40 years, passed away on September 19th of this year. ![]()
